Mais de 500 cientistas, produtores e es-
tudantes são esperados na cidade de Pon-
ta Grossa, no Paraná, entre os dias 14 e 18 de
maio de 2017 para a realização do II Congres-
so Brasileiro sobre Processamento Mínimo e
Pós-Colheita de Frutas, Flores e Hortaliças (II
CBPMPC). O evento será realizado pela Uni-
versidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (Uepg),
emparceria coma Empresa Brasileira de Pes-
quisa Agropecuária (Embrapa), e conta com
representação de instituições de pesquisas e
deensinoligadasàáreadetodooPaís.
O tema central do congresso é “Inovar
para reduzir perdas”, e o objetivo é integrar os
diversos segmentos da pós-colheita e do pro-
cessamento mínimo na busca de soluções
para a reduçãodas perdas nestes processos e
paraaumentodaeficiência.Comisso,osorga-
nizadores propõem espaço para amplas dis-
cussões e a indicação das tendências demer-
cadoedaspesquisasnestessegmentos.
O coordenador do congresso, Ricardo An-
tonioAyub,daUepg,explicaqueosencontros
sobre processamento mínimo vêm sendo re-
alizados desde 1998, enquanto os simpósios
de pós-colheita iniciaram-se em 2005. Estes
são os principais eventos técnico-científicos
na área de pós-colheita e de processamento
mínimo no Brasil. Em 2008, em Lavras (MG),
os dois eventos passaram a ser realizados no
mesmo período, de maneira a unir os traba-
lhos e os pesquisadores da área. “No entan-

o interesse das empresas que trabalhamcom
processamentomínimo epós-colheitade fru-
tas, flores e hortaliças têmaumentado de for-
ma considerável, o que norteou a decisão de
realizarmosocongressoem2017”,frisaAyub.
Deacordocomocoordenador-geral,apro-
gramaçãotécnica-científicafoielaboradacom
o propósito de englobar trabalhos nas qua-
tro áreas temáticas principais: processamen-
tomínimo de frutas e hortaliças, pós-colheita
de frutas, pós-colheita de hortaliças e pós-co-
lheita de flores, alémde apresentar conferên-
ciasgeraiscomtemasatuaiseinovadorespro-
feridosporpalestrantesderenomenocenário
nacionaleinternacional.Entreospalestrantes
estão confirmados alguns dos principais pes-
quisadores do Brasil, além de expoentes na
áreadaAlemanha,doCanada,doChile,daEs-
panhaedaFrança.Apalestradeaberturaserá
do renomado cientista Jean Claude Pech En-

More than 500 scientists, producers and
students are expected in the town of Pon-
ta Grossa, in Paraná, fromMay 14 to May 18,
2017 for the Second Brazilian Congress on
Minimal Processing and Post-Harvest Proce-
duresofFruits,FlowersandVegetables(IICB-
PMPC). The event will be conducted by the
StateUniversityofPontaGrossa(Uepg),joint-
ly with the Brazilian Agricultural Research
Corporation(Embrapa),alongwithrepresen-
tations from research and educational insti-
tutions fromall over theCountry.
The central theme of the congress is “To
innovate in order to reduce losses”, and the
target consists in bringing together the vari-
ous segments of post-harvest and minimal
processing in search of solutions for the re-
duction of losses in these processes and for
higher efficiency. To this end, the organizers
are proposing time for ample debates and
the indication of the market trends, and re-
searchworks conductedby these segments.
The coordinator of the congress, Ricardo
Antonio Ayub, from Uepg, explains that the
debates on minimal processing have been
conducted since 1998, whilst the post-har-
vest symposiums started in 2005. These are
the main technical and scientific events in
the area of post-harvest and minimal pro-
cessing in Brazil. In 2008, in Lavras (MG), the
two events began to take place during the
same period, bringing together the works
and researchers of the same area. “Never-
theless, over the past years, the number of
research works and the interest of the com-
panies that deal with minimal processing
and post-harvest procedures for fruits, flow-
ers and vegetables have increased consider-
ably,whichdirectedour decision tohold the
congress in 2017”, says Ayub.
According to the general coordinator,
the technical and scientificprogramwas de-
vised with the purpose to include works in
the four main thematic areas: minimal pro-
cessing of fruits and vegetables, post-har-
vest of fruits, post-harvest of vegetables and
post-harvest of flowers, besides featuring
general lectures focused on current and in-
novative themes, given by renowned lectur-
ers, in thenational and international scenar-
io. The lectureswhohavealready confirmed
their presence include famous researchers
fromBrazil,besidesscholarsintheareafrom
Germany, Canada, Chile, Spain and France.
The opening lecture will be given by the re-
nowned scientist Jean Claude Pech Ensat,
on the theme “From biological concepts to
technological breakthroughs in post-har-
