The biggest Brazilian fair focused on family farming has already been sched-
uled for March 20 – 22, in the Exhibition Park, in Rincão Del Rey, in the munici-
pality of Rio Pardo, State of Rio Grande do Sul. In its 18th edition, Expoagro Af-
ubra seeks to provide farmers and the agriculture sector with knowledge and
technologies, encouraging diversification initiatives and the permanence of
the young in the countryside. In 2017, the number of visitors amounted to 92
thousand, 400 exhibitors and R$ 53.8 in business deals, where the Agroindus-
try pavilion came in with R$ 603 thousand.
According to agronomic engineer Marco Antonio Dornelles, coordinator of Ex-
poagro Afubra, the theme chosen for the coming edition is Soil Conservation. “It

livestock or vegetable operation”, he stress-
es. The official insists that the fair brings to the
public the latest technological innovations,
cultivations and services, but there is no use in
having access to the best solutions and seeds if
the soil in the rural holdings is exhausted.
“There is need to look after the soil in or-
der to ensure good harvests for years to come.
Besides interfering as little as possible with
the environment, we are providing all the
necessary conditions for an assurance of ru-
ral succession”, he argues. Soil conservation
will be addressed under economic and envi-
ronmental aspects during the activities in the
fair, both by the program and by the Proag-
ro Newsletter, depicting the event. For 2018,
once more, visitors will find a vast a list of op-
portunities during the three-day attractions,
where the highlights are demonstration fields,
exhibition of machinery and equipment, tech-
nical lectures, machine dynamics and agroin-
