Toachieve the target of U$$1billion in fruit exports there isneed
for continued improvement to all processes, from research to pro-
duction, logistics and distribution, says Eduardo Brandão, techni-
cal advisor to the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Live-
stock (CNA). He also emphasizes the importance of having a grasp
of the consumption trends in the different markets. The conquest
of a significant share in theAsianmarket, in the short run, shouldgo
throughaclear knowledgeof e-commerce, common in this territory
even for fruit and derivatives, as an example we could cite the per-
formance of Peru and Chile in China. “In the medium and long run,
for the growing curve to continue on its upward trend, it is of fun-
damental importance to rely on support from the federal govern-
ment and entities that represent the sector in the process intended
to open newmarkets, following on the heels of the CNA, which has
been heavily involved towards this end”, he insists.
