Based on the steps forward regarding vegeta-
tive plant propagation, and with commercial part-
nerships, Afubra placed in the regional market
clonal seedlingsof eucalyptus (Eucalyptus grandis
Panflora GPC 23), enhanced genetic material for
the production of quality solid wood. “It is a mar-
ketnichenotyetexploredandviewedasanoppor-
tunity to add value to small forest productions”,
says Juarez Pedroso. Through agreements signed
with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corpora-
tion (Embrapa), the farmers have access to three
elephant grass varieties (BRSKurimi andBRSCapi-
açu). “Besides increasing the portfolio of the nurs-
ery, it contributes even further to crop diversifica-
tion. In light of this, the nursery was, in the past,
known as forestry, and now as agroforestry, be-
causeof theproduct it offers”, he clarifies.
