The Growing Up Right Institute was created in 2015 with the aim to rethink
the present in the perspective to ensure a better future for the children and ad-
olescents in the countryside. In the belief that rooted cultural questions can be
changed, the entity seeks reflexive initiatives that question the reality. To this
end, besides creating awareness, it offers knowledge and opportunities. “We of-

of their potentialities”, clarifies the president of
the Institute, Iro Schünke.
The Rural Professional Learning Program
was created by the entity on the basis of the
Learning Law, and implemented its first groups
in 2016. Through partnerships with Municipal
Education Secretariats, Municipal Councils on
Children and Adolescents Rights and with the
6th Regional Education Department, the ini-
tiative was put into practice in five municipal-
ities: Vale do Sol, Venâncio Aires, Candelária,
Vera Cruz and Santa Cruz do Sul. “The compa-
nies associated with the institute now use their
learning quotas to benefit rural adolescents,
who receive remuneration proportional to 20
hours a week, besides certification and other
rights set forth by Law”, says Schünke.
