“Whenwe have people and entities thinking about the future of a big collectivi-
ty, it is a real opportunity that shouldnot be forgottennor dismissed”, says themay-
or of Candelária, Paulo Roberto Butzke. “Let the young people make the most of
this opportunity to strengthen their businesses. A rural holding is like a small com-
pany and knowledge is fundamental for starting any enterprise”, advises the may-
or of Vera Cruz, Rosane Petry. She recalls that knowledge passed down from father
to son is very important, but innovation and the acquisition of knowledge is neces-
sary for progressing further.
The mayor of Venâncio Aires, Airton Artus, understands that there is no
doubt about the success of this pilot-project and it signals the viability of train-
ing and qualifying young rural people. “It is a great opportunity for them to
come to grips with rural entrepreneurship in a sustainable manner”, comments
the mayor of Vale do Sol, Clécio Halmenschlager. According to him, a great step
forward is taken thanks to the initiative pioneered by the SindiTabaco and the
associated companies, through the Growing-Up Right Institute. “We are sure
the program will improve young people’s knowledge and will be a manner to
keep the young far from idleness and drugs, a problem that has been detected
in the rural setting”, he notes.
