The entity insists on the importance of “specific credit lines
for the cattle farming sector, made available by finance institu-
tions, with interest rates anddeadlines appropriate to the activ-
ity, with the aim to develop the herds, increase production and
generatenew jobs”. Hehas it that the credit lines are focusedon
the itemsnecessary for thedevelopment of cattle farming, from
the acquisition of purebred bulls and purebred or crossbred
cows, besides construction, refurbishment and expansion of fa-
cilities, pasturelands, purchase of machinery, equipment and
vehicles, alongwithcapacitybuilding training, research, consul-
tancy, projects, technical and entrepreneurial advisory, studies
onenvironmental impacts andothermatters.
As things are, the leader of the segment believes in thecon-
tinuity of the investments and in future investments, leading
to a constant evolution in the activity and generating positive
perspectives for the cattle farming operation in Western Ba-
hia. Within this same context, equally based on information
released by meteorology institutes, Zembrod expresses ex-
pectations for the new agricultural year, 2007/2018, climate
conditions favorable to the development of agribusiness as a
whole, and especially for cattle farming.
Place for the birds
Besides cattle, where the regional office of theBahia LivestockOperations Sur-
veillanceAgency (Adab), in the cityof Barreiras, registers a list of 945 thousandani-
mals in2017, poultry farminghas beenexpanding its base in the region. According
to information from the coordinator of the unit, Pedro José Custódio Neto, in the
year in question eight poultry farms had been registered (six in Barreiras and two
in Luís EduardoMagalhães, of which, fiveweremeat chicken farms and three, egg
laying farms), besides197poultrybreeder shedsand two integratingoperations in
the thesemunicipalities, involving373people. Theconfinement capacityof theei-
ght breeding farms reached 5.2million birds.
