Demand for chicken meat by import-
ing countries is supposed to soar 4.4% in
2017, according to a report published by
the US Department of Agriculture (USDA),
main reference on this market in the world.
In all, 9.3 million tons will be acquired by
nations affected by productive deficits. This
market, therefore, will be more active than
in 2016, year in which USDA sources proj-
ect an increase of 3.25%, over the 8.626 mil-
lion tons traded in 2015, to a total of 8.906
million tons..
Demand by the 10 countries that lead
the global import ranking is supposed to in-
crease by 7.8% in 2016, while the other coun-
tries will buy 4.5% less. For 2017, the two
sets of nations analyzed will buy 4.4-percent
more. Japan and Saudi Arabia should import
less. In the case of the Arabs, smaller interna-
tional protein purchases will continue for the
second year in a row, slightly more than 1%.
This is not good news for Brazil because they
are two important and traditional clients. In
compensation, the markets of Mexico, the
European Union, Iraq, South Africa, China,
Hong Kong, United Arab emirates and the
Philippines should buy more this year. Some
of them, obviously, focused on Brazilian sup-
plies, leading broiler and chicken exporter
in the world.
There are indications that China, with
the biggest population of the planet (1.4
billion consumers), and leading global con-
sumer, whose imports are supposed to go
up over 50% in 2016, is likely to acquire
in 2017 one third more than in 2015. It is
good news for the Brazilian supply chain.
The main supplier of China is Brazil. As Chi-
na’s supply is also guaranteed with acqui-
sitions via Hong Kong, this market is spe-
cifically consolidating as the biggest global
importer of chicken meat. The numbers
released by the US Department of Agricul-
ture (USDA) do not take into consideration
chicken feet, a product that enjoys good
global demand.
maior população do planeta (1,4 bilhão de
consumidores), e com o maior consumo
mundial, cujas importações devem aumen-
tar mais de 50% em2016, tenderá a adquirir
em 2017 um terço a mais do que em 2015.
A notícia é ótima para a cadeia produtiva
brasileira. O principal fornecedor da China
é o Brasil. Como o abastecimento chinês é
garantido também com aquisições via Hong
Kong, esse mercado de forma específica se
consolida como o maior importador global
de carne de frango. Os números do USDA
não consideram pés/patas de frango, pro-
duto que tem boa demanda internacional.
